REVIEW // The Vaccines – If You Wanna

Short and  sweet seems to be The Vaccines motto. Not that I’m complaining, there are a number of ridiculously long songs, but it would be nice to have something more than just over 3 minutes in length. Clocking it at 2 minutes and 55 seconds, If You Wanna is the jerky indie-pop that you expect from The Vaccines, featuring lyrics this time on the subject of lovers that have left.

There’s a slight feeling that this is written from life experiences, with the slight pangs of plea in lead singer Justin Young’s voice during the refrain of ‘If you wanna come back it’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alright if you wanna come back, do you wanna come back?“. Yes, it does sound pretty much like Post Break-Up Sex and Wreckin’ Bar, but there’s nothing wrong with that, Oasis made a career of ripping off The Beatles.

It sounds like The Vaccines brand of dirty indie pop, and stands them in good stead for the music world domination they’re heading for.
