Cage The Elephant ‘Around My Head’ single review

The first song I ever heard by these guys was the ever-so catchy “In One Ear”.  As I said it was catchy, easy to dance to, and a song that everyone could relate too.  Unfortunately Cage The Elephant seem to have lost their way with this second single to be taken from latest album “Thank You, Happy Birthday”.

To me the song doesn’t seem thought about at all, basically just a quick in and out of the studio and a few catchy “oohs” and “aahs” to get people singing.  It sounds very much like a lot of music I already hear in the charts today. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun song to listen too, in that they’ve added those “oohs” and “aahs” and used the guitars cleverly enough to convey an almost “Weezer-like” happiness in this song.  To be honest I wouldn’t be willing to buy the album of the back of this track, but you might.  Give it a go and see what you think, I may be missing the point of this song completely.
