INTERVIEW // The Damned Things

HIVE Magazine got the chance to ask The Damned Things some questions, and here’s what they said. (Please note, this interview displays brevity, conciseness, and the fact that, well- they’re idiots, basically. Obviously too busy coming up with brilliant answers to these questions to change their crappy name!)

What sort of responses have you received after playing at Download Festival earlier this year?

Great responses

Who are your main musical influences?

AC DC, Van Halen, Madonna

Would you recommend ‘The Damned Things’ to fans of your previous bands, or do you feel you’re completely different/want a separate fan base?

We’d recommend them to anybody who likes good music

What can we expect from your debut album ‘Ironiclast’; does it sound along the lines of ‘We’ve Got A Situation Here’ or are the tracks varied in style?

It’s pretty varied, though equally as brilliant. Listen to the record and form your own opinion.

How does ‘Ironiclast’ compare to your previous work – do you think it’s most similar to a particular band?

Its totally new, sounds nothing like anything else

You’ve all come from well known bands; what made you decide to create a new band?

We weren’t busy enough

What are your ambitions apart from becoming world famous rock stars, of course?

Making good music

Do you have any odd hobbies or things you like to do when not working with music?

We like to do interviews.

Recently there has been a lot of media coverage as to whether albums should be sold for £1 to tackle online piracy. What is your opinion on the situation?

It costs good money to make albums, people should pay the right amount for it.

What is your view on reality shows such as X-Factor / American Idol; do you think they are a good way to find new talent?

Don’t watch it

What’s the weirdest encounter you’ve had with a fan?

Keith Buckley: Some guy ran into my dressing room, pulled down his pants and showed me a tattoo of my face on his thigh.

Favourite alcoholic beverage?

Scott Ian: Johnny Walker black

Rob Caggiano: Guinness

Keith Buckley: Rum and coke…

And to finish off, how would you describe your band in three words?

Really Fucking good / Suck My Dick
