2012 has been a defining year for Claire Boucher. Signing to 4AD at the start of the year, her album, Visions, was released back in March to much acclaim. Since then, she’s graced the covers of Dazed & Confused, The Fly and Guardian Guide (among numerous others), completed a lengthy tour of North America and also made her TV bow a few weeks back on Later… with Jools Holland with a sublime performance of ‘Genesis’ (see here).
Being premiered online today is ‘Nightmusic’ (a track that features Majikal Cloudz), the second video to appear from Visions. Following on from the superb video for ‘Oblivion’, ‘Nightmusic’ channels Claire’s darker side, returning to nature to create her modern gothic masterpiece. Directed by regular Grimes conspirator John Londono
Claire’s currently in Europe for her first ever tour of the continent and completes a sold-out run of dates in the UK tomorrow at Brighton’s Great Escape Festival. Her tour carries on throughout May and after performing at Primavera in Barcelona, she’ll be back to London next month for Field Day.
